    Power punchers with no control

So we have a guy who boxed for a few years, and he just started sparring with us. He has really good hands, but he doesn't seem to have a setting other than "crush skull, liquefy brain" even when we're supposed to be going light. He's not too comfortable with kicks yet, so I usually try to keep him out of range with teeps, work on his legs, and generally just keeping the pressure on him and trying to get inside(like I have to do with everyone, since I'm 5'5") so he doesn't start moving forward and throwing bombs. Is there anything else I can be giving a shot to try and deal with him?

tell him to stop being a dick and knee him in the head.

the former should be attempted before the latter.

Also lateral movement when those bombs are launched. Let him over commit and then slam him in the side of the head. Might knock some sense into him.

if you actually want advice on fighting him rather than telling him to calm it then i'd say a CMD guard to clinch range and kick that leg absolutely to **** when you're on the outside. Don't try to outbox a boxer.. please.

And sweep/trip him to your hearts content. We used to get a lot of heavy handed people with little or no restraint and that always seemed to chill them out.

Yeah, typically people that swing for the fences put a lot of weight on their lead leg so timing sweeps are usually pretty easy pickings.

I also recommend the sweep in this sort of case.
