Looking to learn how to lift- In need of advice.

Hey guys, currently I'm a high school student in the VA area. I've never lifted in my life before and would like to learn how to lift and develop an effective plan for weights that improve my physical strength. I've heard about crossfit, but I think their frauds b/c they certify people in a matter of days to teach others how to lift (dangerous). If I'm looking to learn how to lift should I just go to my local gym and ask for help from a personal trainer? I want to develop physical strength and gain the muscle mass to come a long with it.

Wanna learn how to lift? Easy. Bend at the knees, keep your back straight and brace the midsection. Now if you wish to expand upon this than you need to decide what kind of TRAINING your looking to do. Learning how to lift is about as vague as it gets. Are you looking to learn how to train for MMA? Are you interested in body building? Olympic Lifts? Odd Object Lifting? Kettlebell Athletics? The list goes on and on. The more specific your question the easier it is to answer.
