Thanks for the review. - Enjoyed the movie.
I wrote a University essay on Miike's Films 'Bordering between brutal realism and cartoonish violence' and the thematic point behind it. Watched about 30 films of his in 10 days but missed this one. Would have been helpful. -

It's just a horribly written first year's essay from a few years back, but if I can find it I'll flick it through.
Check out Tom Mess's book 'Agitator' on Miike. I referenced a lot of from that, and it's a really good read. I think he also wrote one on Shinya Tsukamoto.
