    Hey sorry, I've been a little out of it b/c I seriously injured my elbow in my last MT fight and it has gotten much worse, so now I'm really bummed out. But I will still be organizing this throwdown if there's enough interest.

    One of the Muay Thai instructors of this gym is interested in supervising and/or coaching, so he's onboard. You can see him in action here: http://www.youtube.com/dpeclat he's constantly training for back-to-back fights, one after another. He just won his last fight on July 17th. http://www.bloodydcmma.com/

    I will also try to get 1 or 2 BJJ black belts to be there too.

    I can also do the videos for this throwdown. Nothing pro though, just barely amateur. Here are some of my work:

    Looks like September 4th or 5th ..... or ..... September 11th or 12th. Saturdays will have to be 1pm-3pm and Sundays will be 11am-1pm.

    (if one or some of these dates are not good for you, then tell me which one is definitely good for you.)

    The cost is probably going to be $15 for mat fee. Usually they charge $40 for drop-ins (which includes one or 2 classes).

    This gym is huge. With lots of room. Separate striking room, cage, full showers, lockers, good A/C, etc.

    How does SUNDAY Sept 26th at 11am sound? I'm thinking that we need more time to get more people interested and attending.

    We kind of need some more people. This gym is really huge.

    Hi guys,

    I have been out of the martial arts for years now. I did TKD and hapkido when i was 19 for about a year. Have experience in TKD sparring =P I am currently taking combat hapkido thats being taught by John Scali out of Manassas. Good teacher. Only thing I'm missing is sparring. I'm onboard for weekend warrior training :eusa_ange

    Height 5'8"
    Weight 180
    Age 27

    I went up to purple belt in TKD and am currently yellow belt in combat hapkido. I have limited rolling experience from my buddy teaching me some and police academy. Unfortunately i will be out of town for a time starting the 26th, but I would jump at the chance to do some sparring and meet some other martial artists of different styles.

    So this looks like a go on SUNDAY SEPT 26TH, 11AM-2PM (and maybe to 3:30PM). It would be good if we can get at least 10 people. There will be BJJ and MT people floating around in this gym at these times too.

    It would be cool to match up TKD vs. MT vs. Karate vs. Kung-Fu etc.

    We will be following the current MMA rules used by the UFC with the addtion of the following rules:

    RULES STANDUP:
    ==============
    1. No knees, no elbows.
    2. No throat strikes.

    RULES GRAPPLING:
    ================
    1. No attacking the knee.
    2. No twisting ankle locks (straight ankle locks OK, but if the guy spins, you have to let go.) This is the usual White Belt rules in competition.
    3. No small joint locks (ie. fingers, thumb & toes manipulations)
    4. No wrist locks.
    5. No body slams (ie. picking someone up while you're in his guard or if he jumps guard...and then slam him...another usual competition rule).
    6. No knees & no elbows.

    Gloves should be at least the 7 oz. MMA and not the 4 oz. MMA fight gloves. They're not that expensive at all.

    http://store.titleboxing.com/everlas...ng-gloves.html

    Boxing gloves are even better. 4 oz gloves are just for seriously jacking someone up, which is what we're not looking for.

    Shinguards if you want to kick.

    Basically looking to have fun w/o needing to injure anyone, break noses, eye sockets, nor have blood squirting all over the place...since none of us are tested for HIV, hepatitis, etc.

    It's like when you're training at your regular gym, you kinda know the people and their skill levels. In a tournament, you're matched up against people of your rank and weight at the very least. But here, you'll be sparring against total strangers. If they're really new and you don't know that, and you go for a quick, balls out kneebar....he doesn't tap fast enough....pop....now the ambulance needs to take him straight to the hospital for knee surgery.

    So...do these rules look ok? Any objections or addition?

    If it goes well, this can be a regular thing.
