Olympic boxer dislocated woman's jaw in party attack

AN Olympic boxer charged with punching a woman was refused bail after he was deemed an "unacceptable risk" to the community.

Stephen Sutherland, 19, allegedly dislocated the woman’s jaw after she asked him to leave her daughter’s 16th birthday party

You might want to post the actual text of the article, in case the link dies in the future.

You also might want to add some commentary, thoughts on the subject, discussion points. Or it may be classed as a low content thread.

Sounds like the kid was being an ass, but i'd be interested to hear his side if the story.

    Edit: Reading comprehesion, sybs:

Sutherland denied hitting the woman or breaking her window, but admitted attending the party and being involved in fights.
Why deny hitting someone and breaking thier windows if they clearly remember you doing so? Is this kid an idiot? Are they lying?
Also, if she had security there, why wasn't he handling the kid, if he was the clear trouble maker?
Sounds like the party got out of control.

The court heard the detective had only one witness statement because of “fear of reprisal”.

“That’s your understanding?” asked Magistrate Frank Hodgens.

“That’s what they told me,” Sen-Constable Holland said.

“You say he has capitalised on his reputation (as a boxer) and used it to threaten the community?” Mr Hodgens said.

“Most definitely. People build their reputation by threatening others,” the detective said.
    Dude is a flyweight.

There probably wasn't any security. It was after all an at home birthday party, how many of those you know have security?
