Shot for the first time

as much as i want to tell you to go out and buy a nice piece, it's really better for you to keep experimenting at this point.

i really like firing .22 and 9mm over any other handgun round. other people will argue with me ad infinitum over my choices.

same with rifle, i like .22 and .30-06 over any other round out there. sometimes i get a craving for .223 but not often. at this point you don't know what you like, or if my choices are even all that practical.

get some more instruction with different calibers and brands. mostly focus on instruction. you will find what you want to spend your money on.

the last thing you want to do is spend hundreds of dollars on a piece, only to find you like your friend's better.

As for purpose of the firearm, it'd be purely recreational and marksmanship thing but not to compete. Just to go to range fire off some shots and know that I practiced and trained hard enough to hit targets at certain distance fairly accurately.

Competition does not have to be grueling. There is a lot of steel shooting and USPSA out there that is fun and laid back and participating will let you make friends who can help you with your shooting.

If you want to just get kinda okay at shooting I think casual participation in these sports would be a very fun and social way to go about it.

In that case you would just need a basic combat handgun and 5-10 magazines depending on their capacity. A basic 9mm glock would probably be a cheap way to get started.

glock isn't my favorite, but if you want a relatively inexpensive, easy to maintain, and reliable piece, glock is the way to go.

Glocks aren't my favorite either, but it's the cheapest way I can think of to do, say, USPSA.

I'm on my 3rd Glock. They're incredible. My newest, a Gen 4 Glock 17, recoils like a SIG. It's outstanding.

When I was in the USA, I enjoyed target shooting with single-action revolvers above all; following same line of analogous reasoning, perhaps it's appropriate that I also practice Kendo.:icon_tong

thats good u got some training, if u feel comfortable with a firearm then id purchase one and start practicing at the range. if not then take a few more courses until you do
