srsly: I agree, the first black metal bands had the worst sounds ever and they're still the best in the genre. And now, with Burzum free, I expect satanic death and stuff to come back strong.

I really love that with how many Swedish metal bands there are, the most famous metal that actually sings in Swedish is from Finland.

This Swedish guy I used to hang out with used to get really pissed off when I would play Finntroll in the car, protesting with "Their grammar suck! TURN IT OFF!"

One of the members of Mayhem was arrested for burning down a church, IIRC. That is metal at it's core. I never got into black metal, death metal, etc, I could tell it had it's moments but I couldn't get into an hour of an album because I liked ten intermittent minutes.

Fear Factory- Demanufacture, Obsolete, Mechanize

Their first four albums (including the remixes, but this is a metal thread so forget I mentioned them) albums were classics, but, IMO, they were finding their sound. Demanufacture was insane. Obsolete was a concept album, a rarity nowadays and executed with power and aggression. Mechanize, how I love this album! Dino and Burton together again using the ol' Demanufacture electronic metronome and bringing some of the best brutality to my ears in years. Long live Fear Factory.

Pantera, guaranteed. RIP Dimebag.

That's because Finland Swedish is somewhat different to Central Swedish. Not surprisingly it's very heavily influenced by Finnish. But who give a crap, right?
