Let me introduce some Finnish stuff.

Melodic, awesome moody doom metal a la Insomnium: YouTube- Insomnium - The Killjoy and YouTube- Insomnium-Down With the Sun

More aggressive, technical stuff from Stam1na: YouTube- STAM1NA - Lääke or YouTube- Stam1na - Merestä maalle

.. or from Mokoma: YouTube- Mokoma - Hiljaisuuden julistaja or Finntroll YouTube- FINNTROLL - Trollhammeren (OFFICIAL VIDEO) (these guys have an accordion too!)

As a bonus the compulsory Children of Bodom song too YouTube- Children Of Bodom - "In Your Face"
Curiosity killed the cat. But damn it had a blast.

Pilgrim, your tastes are atrocious. Your cd/mp3 collection should die in a fire. You want metal, listen to Soilent Green, Goatwhore, Kill the Client, Emperor, Slayer and Napalm Death. There is a ton of genre stuff I can recommend but that should get you started on some stuff that isn't the refuse bin of Kerrang. Metallica without Fleming Rasmussen is like corn flakes with crap.

I listened And Justice For All for the first time in years and years a couple of days ago on a long walk.. Damn, that record is still crazy awesome. It just got so overplayed when I was in my teens I had to put it away for a while. I guess the ban is over now.

Ahh, fine metal from Northern Europe indeed, thanks hpr.
I have a Finnish metal compilation somewhere and I like it a lot.

Since we're now straying from "classic" metal I'll toss there some Swedish stuff:

    Thyrfing
    YouTube- Digerdöden - Thyrfing

    More melodic, Amon Amarth
YouTube- Amon Amarth-Under the Northern Star

Amon Amarath was actually very good. Thanks for that.

And for those who actually went through my links and are now convinced there are no basic technical melodic metal coming from Finland let me present you Sonata Arctica: YouTube- Sonata Arctica - Paid In Full

I'm disappointed nobody cited Carcass yet. Melody is overrated!

    Good times with bodily fluids
YouTube- Carcass - Corporal Jigsore Quandary
YouTube- Carcass - Exhume to Consume

then they went commercial and all the first hour fans hated them,
    YouTube- Carcass - Heartwork

...and here's them playing um, "normal" metal
    YouTube- Carcass - Black Star

Funny guys. They named a record "Wake up and smell the carcass". And a song "Rot and roll".

    GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Misunderstood intentions of good.

    1. I hate Metallica. Not one good song except maybe Master of Puppets.

    2. I profoundly dislike Radio Metal.

    3. What I like most is metal with a folky touch, but that would really merrit a thread for itself.

Okay, then, some of the music I put up when I do the DJ thing (no, not sorted):

    YouTube- Sentenced - Nepenthe

    YouTube- In Flames - Scream

YouTube- Hatebreed - I Will Be Heard

YouTube- DYING FETUS - "Shepherd's Commandment"

    YouTube- BARONESS - "Wanderlust"

YouTube- HIGH ON FIRE - "Rumors of War"

    YouTube- Alabama Thunderpussy - Valor

The sole reason that there is a band called "Alabama Thunderpussy" within this rather haphazard playlist should be enough to make me the king of metal for today.
