You have a point there.
Once Cannibal Corpse picked up Corpsegrinder (as much as I love that bastard) the variety that was obvious from the Barnes records is gone.
Six Feet Under is always kickass, though. And I will supplement it with some Autopsy.

Flint and Sturm are metal (for Pilgrim)
This thread is eternal. So is Peter Steele. RIP.
True metal is both light and dark. Check out Josh Silver's awesome Moses beard.

Original studio recording...too bad I can't embed. Play loud, might be the greatest 10m+ metal ever recorded.

Reason: I KNOW YOU'RE FUCKING SOMEONE ELSE!!!
I'm a metal fan, but Metallica isn't cool. It's annoying that they got so popular when at the same time, there were better metal bands in Europe like Shaaman:

Lars is from Denmark, and if you haven't seen his father Torben Ulrich (professional tennis master and metalhead himself), you need to watch this video from Some Kind of Monster (which aside from some cool tracks is an annoying exercise in rock group therapy).

There was a time when Metallica was so very cool. I don't consider the Black Album to be bad the way a lot of hardcore Metallica fans did....it was a good combination of their old speedmetal style combined with more pop hooks, but it just went downhill from there until they somewhat redeemed their sound with Death Magnetic (which is definitely worth picking up).

Reason: I'm losing my mind.
If I had to pick between watching Metallica sell out and Megadeth sell out, I'd pick Metallica.
Death Magnetic, while not being a great album, was still pretty good and had some kickass tracks. Endgame? Oh man, there was one song that inched out above mediocre.

I listened to this and I was all "Oh ****! Dave's back, man." Then I came away from listening to the whole album in disappointment.
(note: I'm not including United Abominations in this since it had material on it from before Dave got on that whole "Christianity" thing.)
This is for you then, one of my favorite covers of a favorite band by another favorite band.
The intro is like Cream's "Spoonful" and Alice in Chain's "God Smack" had a baby and the band swallowed it's soul.

Listened to this for the first time in years tonight to psych myself up for a drive on Garden State Parkway North.
I have had beer spit on me by Zakk Wylde at Ozzfest. Yes, yes he is. And like most great musicians, from New Jersey.
Btw, if you took 99% of the metal bands that formed since 2000, added them all up, they would not equal the contribution to metal of Zakk's solo in "Stillborn" (1:50). Or any Zakk solo, for that matter. Don't get me started on the solo in "No More Tears"....
