    To clarify what I just posted,

    miguksaram, you trained with this guy. Did you find it helpful? Is it truly similar to any other MA styles that you have trained?

    Keep in mind that I was 12 years old when I trained with Uncle Vin. I was just a kid who was practicing with my friends. I really didn't look at it as formal training. I would be over their house and Uncle Vin would just say "Come I show you something" We would go outside he say "I show you kick today." Then we would practice a kick, he would show us a variations of the kick. How to use the kick in different ranges. The hardest part was trying to understand his broken English (however, that trained me for the future to better understand my wife. ha.ha.ha.) Sometimes he would just explain in Vietnamese and demonstrate then turn to me and say "You understand right egg boy" (His nickname for me, white outside yellow inside). Then after the lesson, he would say "Ok show me you learn" So then we just started fighting with him or fighting with his son. Both which never like to play nice. :)

    Did I find it helpful? Yes. This was the first place I learned that fighting for real is not like point sparring. Prior to this I was doing Shuri-ryu karate so I could only had that art to compare this one too. As I grew in the martial arts and was exposed to more systems, I saw that it resembled a lot of different styles. We used elbows and knees like MT, but then we would use animal strikes, mostly crane and tiger, like Hung Gar or Shaolin. The stances would range from deep low stances, to more upright stances, depending on technique being taught. Our fighting motions would be more angled, in other words instead of moving back and forth or left and right we would move diagnol to cut the angle of the attack. We didn't have warm ups. We would just start the lesson as soon as we got outside.

    Outside of my TSD instructor Arturo Gabriel, I felt I learned more from Uncle Vin with my short time there than I did with any other instructors.

    Found this:

    http://www.wingchunkuen.com/what/sys...enchaiwan.html

    Anyone know something about wing chun in Vietnam?
    That civilisation may not sink,
    Its great battle lost,
    Quiet the dog, tether the pony
    To a distant post;
    Our master Caesar is in the tent
    Where the maps are spread,
    His eyes fixed upon nothing,
    A hand under his head.
