Guy tried to rob jiu jitsu student's cell phone in Brazil

A poor guy tried to rob a jiu jitsu student's cell phone inside a bus in Goiânia/Brazil. The student got him in a standing choke untill the bus driver could stop at a police station so the cops could arrest the thug.

The cop interview goes something like "the police recomends that the victim never reacts because it can go wrong and the thief is frequently accompanied by another one. Fortunately there was a martial arts fighter inside the bus that was able to notice the attemp and render the robber".

The robber man is clueless about what to do here, and definetely he didn't see it coming, which gave the jj guy the upper hand in the situation. And it looks like one can adapt jj technics for self defense depending on the situation.

That is hilarious. I like how the guy doesn't know what to do so he just complies, standing there in the RNC waiting to get to the police station lol

The video was made by a guy with a cell phone and u can listen to the robber say "it's too tight" to jj guy in the original audio. He's totally desperate not knowing what to do.

At least Brazil doesn't have its collective head up its ass about apprehending criminals in the act. Try this in Bloomberg's NYC.

Dont u like to see hot chicks doing silly things on television dude? weird...Better don't tell what one can think about this...
And no, we can't go out and start arresting thugs' asses around, but the guy only restraint the robber and he was a victim, so he was defending himself, he didn't phisically hurt the guy, probably only caused some moral damages...lol

Is there any info on how exactly he tried to rob the phone? The situation afterwards looks so peaceful.
The original title of the video is "Ladrão se dá mal rouba lutador Jiu-Jitsu". Can lutador be translatet as player?

Lutador=fighter.
This kind of robbery inside public transportation is common here in Brazil... most of the times they simple try to take it from you when the phone or something worthy is in plain sight and they hope that this would intimidate the victim so it wouldn't react. That was the case here. Of course there are other cases in which the thugs are really dangerous and threatens the victims, sometimes even using a gun.
