Wandy out of UFC116 - Leben in.....

Wandy has pulled out of UFC 116 due to a rib injury and Chris Leben has stepped in to face Akiyama.

Big call from Leben, this will only be a 12 day layoff before the event. He was cleared by medical staff after his Aaron Simpson TKO on Saturday.

Was really looking forward to Wandy v Sexyama, oh well. This may be a better second UFC fight for Sexy but Leben is 4-2 from his last 6 UFC outings.

I dunno this will still be an interesting fight, I'm bummed because I wanted to see Wandy fight again.

Oh well, hopefully he heals up quick.

Leben-Akiyama will be a good fight, and, I agree, maybe a better matchup. But Leben is a poor substitute for Wand.

Heh. And Leben was just telling that he's in no hurry at all to get the next fight. But who wouldn't take a co-main event spot, especially if their whole career has been mostly about gate keeping.

Incidentally I'm not too disappointed, since I've always liked Leben.
