MMA/Judo/BJJ Flint Michigan?

Hey guyz,

Anyone know of a good gym in the Flint Michigan area?

Looking for the normal line up of BJJ/MMA/JUDO/SAMBO/MT really.

I know Mark Tripp is in the area but does he have a gym?

I am looking to move up that way spring next year so I will needing a new gym and my girlfriends bother in law is interested in checking a place out.

Mark doesn't have a school, however, there are qualified schools up there.

There is burchfield martial arts, which has a fantastic BJJ bb, along with having BBs in like...1700 different martial arts. I know they offer BJJ, kung fu of some flavor and some sort of kickboxing.

I'd stay away from Dragon MMA. I've just never been Impressed with any of their competitors...plus, I mean, its nothing compared to Burchfield Martial Arts. No offense, Foxd, thats just how I feel. I'm not saying you guys don't have skill, but I feel like there are better schools in the area...

Foxd on the boards trains at Dragon MMA, and Bustardo trains at Burchfield martial arts. They'll be here soon I imagine.

Of course, you could make the hour long drive down to the D, and train with me, at my school. Mine is the best school in the entire world, hands down. (Ok, not really, but we're really really fuckin' good. Honestly? Not worth an hour drive when you have a school like Burchfield's close by)

Why Flint, though? Dude, Flint sucks. So does Detroit. Suburbs all the way. Like downriver!!

Why Flint? Because like most things men do.. that's where the lady is for right now. Move to flint for a year or two until her kid goes to college then maybe Seattle.

In seattle, you've got to hit up Sea-town Sombo, with Aaron Fields. Get that awesome judo/sambo training!!

No it didn't, John.

I'm not saying its a bad school, I just have never seen anything impressive from it. Harsh truth? You should be at a much higher level then you are. I'm not saying you're not talented, but I don't think that particular school is conducive to you, and your jiu jitsu training.

In any case, I know Burchfield now offers an 80 bucks a month contract for three nights a week on BJJ, so I'd say go for it.

I used to train at Dragon MMA back when it was Dragon Karate and they didn't even have a BJJ program. It was kind of lame in hindsight, but it was lot of fun back in 1995.

Right on guys thanks for the info.

I'm flying up to Flint this Friday but we are going camping up in interlochen state park so I won't have time this trip to do a drop in.. maybe when I go up in December.
