The "Clinch Pick": Bad News 4 Grapplers...

This crafty sticker is made for one purpose only: ramming into a grappler before he even realises you have it.

The size comparison between the knife and a pen.

The way it's most commonly carried.

And at last, I've been saving you a lil' treat: how to deploy it from the seated position.

    1) The blade pops up and nicely indexes the wielder's center line. Just thrust from here as soon as it's in your hand, don't cock back for more power.

    2) A short and powerful arcing thrust to the abdomen drives the blade home. The wielder rips upward while still raking the attacker's face.

    3) & 4) The finish consists of grabbing the attacker's closer arm with the raking hand to keep it from getting in the way and thrust upwards to his chin.

Does anyone own this little devil? If so, write back about your experiences ( the way it lies in your hand, pros and cons about the steath etc.). If anyone has a knife similar to this one, just less expensive, post about that too. This one costs $240. Thanks in advance.

Something I don't quite get about "specialised self defense tools" such as this one - why pay 240 dollars for something that doesn't really do anything a regular pocketknife can't?

I own a Gator, by the way. Nice, solid knife for outdoorsmansy stuff, but illegal as hell to carry. http://images.backcountry.com/images...um/GER0008.jpg

meh.. its been around for a while.. I don't really see what makes it any more dangerous than any other knife in a street fight. Bottom line is don't bring a fist to a knife fight.

Uh . . . it's just a knife. It's not a particularly new or different design, either. Cold Steel's "Roach" is similar (but bigger and with a less narrow "wasp") for a lot less money . . . I believe they're under $30, but mine was a gift.

Grappling against a guy with a knife you didn't see is indeed a bad thing, but it can often be defeated with the most basic method of self-defense:
"Don't go to stupid places with stupid people to do stupid things."

One other advantage of the Roach is that it's sold as a hunting knife (and I've field dressed whitetails with one, as well done a lot of the butchering, and it's a pretty good cheap hunter.)
Whether there's a difference between explaining to a prosecutor or a jury why you were carrying a "Clinch Pick" as opposed to a "Roach" is up to you, but the State's Attorney won't be able to Google up many online tutorials on gutting a man with a Roach or a Schrade Sharpfinger because he put you in a side headlock.

If you ever grapple with a friend with you both having training knives, you're in for a treat. It's a lot of fun, and a very different game in my opinion than just grappling with a friend.

I find it hilarious that the usage instructions are written with a Chunner in mind.

I used to carry a SOG pentagon clipped to my left pocket. I jokingly referred to it as my "wrestling knife," though I was in no way kidding.

While knife deployment is the better part of handgun retention, I'm not sure that this particular blade offers any advantage over a craftily concealed paring knife.

Hilarious that they've obfuscated the model's faces, by the way. They're top secret. You do not know them. If you do discover their (secret!) identities, you are to be killed.

For a "small blade" it's looks very overpriced. You can pick up a Emerson LeGriffe or equivalent for < $80.

Also carrying a blade to "attack people that try to grapple you" is a good way to be arrested. "Officer, he grab me so I stabbed him" doesn't really hold up.
