Personally I encourage 'off-script' motion, because that usually means they're working it as hard/fast as they can so things start breaking down. Unless there's a "rate of failure", then you're probably just going through the motions and not actively learning.

Watching someone attempt to counter a guillotine with a bite to the ribs would be pretty fucking hilarious. Unless the grappler in question is very, very forgiving, it sounds like a very poor idea—but hilarious.

More new "local" Kali finds (to the phillipines)

The first video doesn't look 'local'! Its apparently influenced by current American FMA scene particularly by Tuhon Chris Sayoc's knife system. The second video doesn't look 'local' either. Its JKD kali! You can find other videos that will better represent 'local' FMAs.

Oh, it doesn't? I thought sayoc kali in the phillipines was not influenced by chris sayoc? I think i read it somewhere that the system was diractly passed down from the father of chris when he came back to the philipines. The philipino guys seem to love doing live blade demos, and their movements seem more "rugged", or snappy, i don't know, more aggressive.

Gulogod, can you post videos which better represent kali local to the phillipines?

Whoa! Grandpa still kicks ass! This Doce Pares video has got to be one of the best on youtube!

Gulogod, are you a filipino FMAer? I'm sorry for misspelling filipino in my previous posts. I could not edit them. If you are, what Kali styles in your country are considered the "premiere" FMA styles? Just curious. So far I'm loving these Doce Pares videos. I also like pekiti Tirsia, but the videos I see on youtube by pekiti feature mostly not Filipinos, but white practitioners. There are some that feature Filipinos, but I believe filmed in the USA. Is pekiti not as big in the phillippines as it is in the USA?
