"Empty Hand" the movie. The "True Karate" Kids?

What do you guys think? There's all this stuff about how they're "t3h r34l Karate". It's shotokan btw, they're competing for the AAU karate title. Getting quite hyped.

From what I saw in the trailer, there was this bit at 0:30 where the girl's teaching how to "attacK". Kinda made me cringe a bit.

Looks more like a documentary than a movie. I'd prefer seeing it than the Karate Kid that was just released. At any rate these girls are showing better form and technique than most of the karate I have seen at tournaments.

I initially thought it was an awful load of bollocks, with it for the first minute or so looking like the worst of American teen docusoap bullshit crossed with the worst of the most flowerly-assed of the Traditional Karate styles. Then I saw the sparring. It still looked a bit soft-cock but they look like juiniors so I think I'll watch it. Shotokan still gives me hives tho. i'll buy in extra antihistamine.

When is it out?

That girl talking about her dad pushing her really hard because he used to compete and now he's living vicariously through his children rang true of a lot of people I encountered in karate days.
I think there's something about Shotokan that attracts uptight assholes.

Also, is it just me or does Shotokan attract girls with good figure?? I remember meeting some shotokan girls in college and they were all . .. !!!

But it seems interesting and they do know what they're talking about, those girls are good. Though I did got a bit confused by the weapon handling, never had that in WKF. Is that standard for AAU?

Weapon forms are usually a division in AAU tournaments.
Out of curiosity, what unearthly force would compel you to want to do point karate again? Do you just enjoy having a referee stopping you to tell you nobody scored a point every ten seconds?
