Do you have any clips or links that give examples of what you are talking about? What do you think is the difference between american and korean hkd?
When I started MA I trained at an "american" HKD school (the instructor was trained by a Korean in the US). There was a huge difference between that school and another I visited where the head instructor was Korean(the students there were far better overall). -

But wait a minute, guys. You are watching black belts. Men who were hand-picked to be on this show. I'm willing to bet that you are looking at the tightest, most crisp, and most hardcore hkd people they can find for this show.
When I taught kuksool many moons ago, we had a demo team. And some kids were sharp and others were sloppyslobs. I'm willing to bet there are some sloppyslobs in Korea.SEANBABY:

When I trained in Korea Hapkido Fed., I was in this small city called Kangneung. Kind of "out there" in the "country" ish town. Everyone was way cripser and better than the training I had with Hwalinkwan in Seoul. (Ironically, I think the Hwalinkwan techniques are much better) Hwal in Kwan in Seoul was much easier, and kids didn't train as hard. Training was less harsh in general.
Of course, training is mush in America in general compared to the training in Korea. However, the good guys are good no matter where you go, but there seems to be much more 'good guys' in Korea. BB testing is faster also because you trained harder.
