WAY too much reliance on kote gaeshi as an effective disarm and takedown.
"Out of every hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back." -- Hericletus, circa 500 BC -

better weapons demos than a lot of the ones I see BUT I would have to say based on those gun disarms that these people probably do not actually go to the shooting range very often. I big part that seems to be missing from most of those training programs. It also bugs me how these are done from a ready position with the attacker tipping his hand to the defender. I'd like to see the strategy for when the attacker surprises you as they usually would or what you do when that gun is in your side and not easily pushed out of the way. Course those demos never looks as impressive. :)

You know, if some random person on the street ever puts a gun to my head I would immediately hand over my wallet and a small piece of paper with my pin number written on it.
Once the mugger discovers how much money I have in my bank account he'll immediately feel like it was a big waste of time.
I win.

A lot of the knife stuff I've been taught. I was taught gun defense maybe twice and the bat thing I was never taught. Though I'm told to fend of someone with a weapon like that you close the distance between the two of you and control the arm. Never block though (obviously) as a baseball bat swung can shatter your arm.
