    Loads of yellow jumpsuits.

And mention 'the street' and/or chi at least seven times every minute.

Otherwise, nobody will take you seriously.

From the get-go, if you know why you're making the DVD you can deduce what needs to be in it. E.g. an instructional DVD intended for general audiences needs to do different things than one made for advanced practicioners. Given that you already understand the content of what you're making why not simply focus on the execution?

Please don't put in like 10 slow mo's of each technique from the same angle, like in the old Panther videos.

Having some structure is nice too. Not just here are randomly strung together techniques 1 - 20.

Explaining the principles of the technique so that the viewer can understand how and why it works, not just know step A B C to do the technique.

Showing a "live" application of the technique being taught, for example, showing fight footage of the technique being pulled off is very useful. One of my seniors was telling me he doesn't really watch instructional videos anymore to learn technique. He prefers to watch actual fights and matches over and over and over to pick up on little techniques and progressions that he can use.

Hey.. I have been using that in Judo for years.... Spinning Circle Choke... thats what its called huh? I always thought of it as my "fancy-rolling-over-please-god-don't-let-it-be-someone-bigger-than-me-or-I-might-end-up-on-my-back-without-rolling-them-over-looking-like-a-dickhead choke"

As you can see, names for techniques may perhaps not be my strong point
