living in beijing means i get to see weird stuff every week, but in contrast to living in the uk it never feels like it's going to get violent. hell, even when "fights" break out on a saturday night here no one gets their drink spilt.

I saw a street fight in Xinjiang (Western China) between two ten year olds once. They were screaming and punching each other in the face. I was going to a bank with some people to pull out some yuan. About 30 minutes after walking in the bank I came out and the kids were still fighting. They were still screaming and hitting each other repeatedly in the face, but now both of them were crying and one had a small trail of blood running down his nose. Some old guys have fists with dollars in them but even they seemed bored by the brawl as did the small crowd.

IN one year I saw 2 street fights. One was 3 girls against one guy. The other was like 2 or 3 a side fairly well matched. Someone brought a stick. Just cuz you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

oh, i know serious street fights happen here too. it's just relative to a night out in birmingham it feels much, much safer.

on the same website there are much more serious incidents. but, well, the dancing one is funny..
