An io9 article about the Mongoliad project, heavily weighted towards historical swordsmanship, with digressions into Bartitsu and hints at future projects in the Foreworld series.

Just finished the book. I really enjoyed it. Cool characters good action, awesome fight scenes, good nerdy world-building (although it seems to be roughly historical). WARNING: ends on a cliffhanger. I'd recommend it though. If you like WMA and fantasy or historical fiction this is definitely the book for you. I haven't seen the multimedia stuff associated with this in a while so I can't really speak to that.
