The online fanbase grew way beyond what Tancharoen had hoped and now it has been signed on by Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and Machinima.com to be made into a web series. A teaser clip has just dropped at the following link.

    From the site:

Actors so far are Jeri Ryan (“Star Trek: Voyager”) as “Sonya Blade,” Michael Jai White (“The Dark Knight”) as “Major Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs” and Darren Shahlavi (“300”) as “Kano.”

From what you can see in the clip, the fight choreography looks pretty crisp, although it's hard to pull much else from it. The production quality looks above your average web series. Personally, I'm looking forward to this.
    Jeri Ryan.....mmmm, tasty.....

I watched the two episodes they had up and I personally like them. The comments people are bitching that Sonya isn't hot but those people are wrong and also slack-jawed idiots.

I haven't even read any of the comments. It's not epic by any means but for a free web series, and in 1080p, it works quite well. As for Sonya not being hot...well, keep in mind, nowadays, hot just doesn't have the same meaning. I guess they would rather have Paris Hilton as Sonya Blade!!!

    Part 3-5 is up now:

    Part 3 - Jonny Cage - (lolz)
    Part 4 - Kitana & Mileena Part 1
    Part 5 - Kitana & Mileena Part 2

Will it win any acting, special effects, cinematography awards (or any awards for that matter...)? Probably not. Is it a pretty cool addition to the Mortal Kombat mythos and could possibly spur interest in a new (hopefully awesome - read - rated R) live action movie? We can only hope.
