One time, Jnp told me we were going to go out to a bar. He drove me to an empty lot. I asked him what we were doing, and he said "waiting." Sure enough, a construction crew showed up and built the bar around us. Once Jnp and I finished drinking, we walked out and he set the bar on fire. Over the roar of the flames he said to me "You should always leave things the way you found them.""Emevas,
You're a scrapper, I like that."-Ronin69

Martial arts history:
1. Wrestled for five years in public school. Did well as a senior in high school going undefeated in the regular season (which is not really a big deal in Texas). Failed to compete at the state championships due to the no pass-no play rule. The worst part was, I failed Spanish because I skipped class too often, not because I had a failing grade, and that cost me my chance at the State tournament.
2. After taking it for four months in 1999, I started training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu seriously in 2001 under William Vandry, a Carlos Machado black belt. I have trained under him ever since. I attained my current rank of purple belt in 2006.
The last BJJ tournament I attended was in 2005. I am 5-3 in submission grappling tournament matches.
I am 41. 5'10" at 185 pounds. I am a carpenter and electrician by trade. I now work for a restoration company.
I have been married for fourteen years. I served in the USMC from 1989 to 1995.

JNP is a tough manly man on the outside and huge sci-fi nerd on the inside.
That's why we love him

JNP was a major reason I started practicing BJJ and from there judo, wrestling and SAMBO. He is, what my friends back home would call, "a stand up guy" or "a solid dude". Much respect to the polymath, our own cauliflower-eared Erasmus, JNP.

I like to take this oppurtunity to thank Jnp for not finishing an armbar this one time at a Throwdown when he could have and possibly should have. Thank you kind sir for not taking my forearm home and adding it to the pile.
