Nice Bloke> He was a Trad MA and gained his Shodan in Trad JJ. I recall walking past the Sparring Mat, where he was competing in the Final. At that moment, he lifted his Left Leg and delivered a Roundhouse Kick to the Head of his opponent, who went straight over. Game over.
This was an International event in Southend some years ago. He also won the Groundfighting.
I think Dan had a background in TKD (which would explain the high quality of his kicking) and then got into Trad JJ. He was also part of the British JJ Team which travelled to Uruguay some years ago. He won either Silver of Bronze in the Sparring. I think it was the latter.
He's moved away from Trad MA and devotes himself to MMA and he has taught seminars (always enjoyable).
He helps run the family Restaurant in Southend (I had an excellent dinner there last year after an International).
Dan also runs Team Sure Grip. Top Bloke. I live in Ole London Town, otherwise I'd likely be his student. :laughing7 -

Blimey. BJJ Black Belt as well! Last I heard he was Royce's senior rep in Europe as a 2 Stripe Brown Belt. Mind you, that was about a year ago.
Well done him (and you for having the wisdom to train with him). No doubt he'll be doing a short seminar in Nov 10 in Sarfend (and dazzling us as usual).
