    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Any good schools in Melbs?

As Uncle Skippy suggested, I thought I would ask if anyone knows of some good, legitimate, preferably non-culty options for MA schools in the Northcote/Fairfield/Preston/Thronbury area of Melbourne. The last one did my head in:eatbabies

I'm going to checkout a Kyokishin school through a friend, but I'd also like to have more options.

http://www.hangar4.tv/ is pretty good from what I've heard (and in the BJJ community, if I lived in Melbourne I'd be training there). I think there are some guys on here that train there too. Actually, just remembered, the user JohnnyS on here is the lead BJJ instructor for Hangar4. You should be able to PM him or give him a call if you're interested, can't seem to link his profile.

Also, http://www.bjj.com.au/main/?page_id=31 for BJJ in Melbourne.

That's about the extent of my knowledge. Then again, I don't know if these were styles you were interested in! But check them out.

Main thing: try a bunch of stuff out, ask a bunch of questions, feel if the environment is right for you, will the style and training deal with what you want to get out of martial arts, and will you enjoy it!

    Just an update.

I've agreed to train with a friend who REALLY needs to get himself back in shape. He has a karate background with experience in BJJ as well, so I'm bound to learn a few things while I scope out new possibilities for schools to train in.

Thanks to all who have offered their support, encouragement and help to me...much appreciated.

No worries. Both of you guys should check out the BJJ schools I listed. Best way to motivate is working in a group. Good luck!

Yeah I had a look. Not sure if it's for me yet, but I will keep it in mind...my friend is not in a great financial sitch at the moment so he will probably pass?

The Kung Fu school up the road from me might be the go, though I'm wary of going anywhere too convenient as my last school ended up to be cultish, and that was just down the road too.

I have minimal training in Wing Chun Kung Fu from a few years ago, so I might be able to pick up where I left off...though I do recall there not being much in the way of sparring, but then, I didn't really stick with it for long?

    Thanks though.
