Got my concealed firearms permit, yay!

Well I just got my Nevada concealed firearms permit in the mail. It is the first time that I've ever had a concealed firearms permit. I feel like I've just joined an exclusive social club.

On my permit it says I'm authorized to carry a Ruger P97DC, and a Kimber 1911 TLE2.

I don't intend on carrying concealed, especially seeing as I can't do so at work anyway. My main reason for the permit is so that I can carry a handgun to the range in a backpack and not get in serious trouble for doing so, since the backpack is considered an item of apparel. Also, if in the future I felt the need to carry, I could do so legally.

I also applied for Utah and Florida, so hopefully I get those permits soon as well.

nice congrats dude. I sent my application in last week. Hope to get it in a few weeks. But I qualified for .357 revolver, and .45 in semi-auto. I'm considering carrying. If I do, I'll carry my .38 special. But it honestly just sounds like a pain in the ass.

So, your exclusive club remark just earned you a sigh and a little facepalm from me.

But, I didn't shake my head. So you're ahead in that department.

At least now we all know you're not a felon, a woman-beater, or a mental patient. I'm also glad to hear you're taking a cautiously guarded approach to carrying it right away.

Now, it is time for you to take your range practice much, much more seriously. Get yourself a competent coach. Pay one if you have to. At about 1,000 well fired rounds, and the same number of quality practice draws, then is a good time to start carrying.

Get a holster now, because otherwise you'll decide out of the blue you want to carry it, tuck it into your wasteband, and shoot yourself in the penis.

I'm surprised that your permit only authorizes you to carry specific handguns. In Tn the CCW isn't weapon specific so you can pretty much carry what ever handgun you want. Also I find it odd that you expect to get individual permits from the states you have reciprocity with. That is the first time I've ever heard of that. I was always told that the reciprocity states will simply honor the permit you have in your home state.

I let my own CCW expire several years ago, but when I carried concealed I only did so with a mini revolver. I plan on getting my permit renewed in the near future and when I do i'll be carrying a sub nose .38 this time around.

Our CCW lets us carry everything we qualified for, and below. And ours is good in like 20 other states I believe. Our instructor said Utah fucked everyone over with how unqualified they were leaving the people who applied, which I believe took off 19 states for us, that we would have been qualified. I don't pretend to know how it works, but yea.
