I'm with Miyagi and Orlando on this one... this doesn't sound like mushrooms to me. Then again, anything can happen with someone who is already on the edge, and the trip could just push him off. Really, until toxicology tests are done, it's still up in the air. Those shrooms could have been doped with anything.

Psychotic episodes are well documented with psilocybin.
Teas and extracts make dosages more difficult to judge.
That said, friends from the area claim Amanita Muscaria was used in this case, i for one tend to see that as more likely.

No more Supernatural marathons while I do copiuous amounts of "mushroom tea" with my training partners with sharp objects around, because I don't want Kungfu getting a bad rep or anything.

Seriously, this is a horrible event and everything, but his involvement in MMA shouldn't really be a huge factor. It's not like he punched and kicked this guy's heart and eyes out or anything.
