does anyone know if china had any stick fighting with short sticks, like eskrima, or even if that style was migrated to china before 1820?

Biangan, northwest style. Which is longer than the short stick, about 1 meter.
If stick is too short, it is not good for cotinus striking, so CMA do not like to use short stick.

Sorry, for my explaining is not not exact. Short stick could also generate continus striking but not in Chinese stick's way. The most common skill we use is changing t the holding posture of two hands, if the stick is too short, the skill we called 'huan ba' could not apply.
