I like the way he says "Maw-shall-ahts". It's good to see another persons perspective. I laughed so hard at "He needs to stay on fear factor" Whats that? Another Shawn Obasi reference?
I like the whole New York Talk and Harlem thinking.
This guy is so ignorant it's not even funny. He generalizes MMA fighters to Texas Rodeo Whites. They completely take one thing Rogan was saying, and skew it to make him sound racist. This guy doesn't sound educated. It was a fun video to watch.
Joe Rogan needs to keep it real.

I remember Black Taoist from about 10 years ago when I lived in Jamaica NY, in the days before YouTube existed. 2x a week I & the other browns/blacks at my dojo would do 1-2 hours of round robin free-sparring, while he rented the smaller floor from my head instructor to teach Bagua.
He wasn't as loud and brash then (or didn't do that in our dojo out of respect, either way), and I got the distinct impression of a person who was athletic from martial arts (tall, strong and pretty flexible with good balance).
That being said his class never sparred, but he cracked a wall demoing a move on a compliant student once. He was always very rough with his ukes trying to show how awesome his skills were which I didn't like, but if an adult wants to pay money for that, whatever as long as he watched the walls. He had skills but I don't believe he sparred enough and didn't quite understand that he couldn't really do everything he demoed.
That being said, I don't have an entirely negative opinion of him either. I just didn't like how he was teaching. I've seen videos of him in more recent times teaching in handball courts and such, and I like it better TBH; he seems like a more positive coach and they do some sparring with little gloves. I saw another vid where one of his guys does a "sanshou" match (looked more like a toughman contest with 16 oz and headgear to me, but I think either way that's a decent training experience). It's been over 10 years, I don't teach the same either. He's done 2+ years of mma/grappling at this point, from what I read on this site, I'm sure it's influenced his Kung Fu/gave him more practice applying it. IIRC he had pretty good/strong kicks and a lanky 6'5 frame to use them with.Last edited by maofas; 5/26/2010 10:39pm at .
