It's great for the drug users, not so much a good thing though. :car8:

I'm not going to make any picks, but I'm stoked about this card! Diaz, Sakurai, Hansen, Saku, Kid... But it sucks that it will be in the cage. The ring gives Japanese MMA a whole different feel that I enjoy.

Yeah, this should be a good card. However, apparently it was a lot of the fighters who requested for this to be in the cage, but I do kind of miss the ring.

I much more better prefer the cage to a ring... having the fighters restart/reposition every few minutes because they get caught up in the ropes is annoying.

Without the barrier there of the cage, I think it takes away from a lot of stalling tactics and also gives jiujitsu guys more room to go for sweeps and subs from the bottom. Overall it lends itself to a faster paced fight. Getting caught in the ropes (or falling out entirely) unless you restart in the middle is perhaps the only downfall to the ring. In just about every other aspect, I like it better.

I found an interesting interview with Sakurai:
    http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/05/2...i-dont-want-t/
Basically, he's considering retirement and talked a bit about his lack of motivation. He said he was injured when he fought Gono as well. He also had some comments about Japanese MMA in general that I found interesting. He did say that if he wins, he's thinking about dropping to LW. However, I doubt that will happen. Hopefully, he'll put on a good show.

I'm with Mach on his points about Japanese MMA right now. There's too much time and money being spent on getting freakshows and not enough on developing local talent. Brazil does the exact opposite, they have almost nothing BUT development of local fighters, and that's why we see so many of them head over to fight in the States and Japan.

I really hope Sakurai wins. And I think he will, Ralek looked like **** against the two cans he has faced. The front kick to the legs followed by running towards the clinch with his head down...he fights like he just came through a time machine from the year 1993.
