I found one thread besides this one when I entered Doyles name but it seemed to be discussing another irish stick fighting style. Interesting thread but I did not notice anyone identifying themselves as Doyle. I think I am going to be playing with his online lessons. There is some good stuff in there.

That's some interesting stuff. I've been playing around with the forearm stop style striking with my ball head cane and it's pretty cool. I kinda like the two handed wide grip they use so you can strike that way with either hand. It's cool cause when you have a ball head cane, you have the extra weight when you strike with your right, and it's faster and easier to maneuver when you strike with the left since now the ball is in the handle side.

I spent some time today playing around with the leg blocks they showed (where you pick up your opposite leg and it can work as a bit of a brance), and I found them to be a good starting position for the quick stick punch to the mask since your hand is somewhat chambered and their weapon will probably be in a low position since they attacked your leg. I like the stick punch with Illustrisimo cross step footwork, where you slide your lead leg back and turn for a backhand jab (thrown at the same time as the step, as a direct counter to a leg attack). I haven't been able to find anyone that wants to put on some masks and do some free sparring yet- everyone thinks I'm a bit off for wanting to try out some Irish stickfighting.
