YouTube- Chi Energy Amazing Footage

For some reason I decided to youtube chi power. I came across this video and thought it was crazy. But the paper thing is interesting (1:50 - 2:28)
Anyone know how this trick would of been pulled off?

The thing is he took one of their newspapers. UNLESS newspapers and the flash paper have similar qualities.

How sure are you that the paper he ignited was an ordinary newspaper, not switched by sleight of hand, or by a confederate shortly before the demonstration took place?

Not saying they did, just another way it could have been done.

Honestly, what part of that footage seems like anything but yet another magic trick?

It's not carried out under controlled conditions.

The filmmakers appear to be not only utterly credulous about the chi practicioner's powers, but have been striving to get him on camera since the early 1980's.

They only recently got his permission to film him, presumably when they allowed sufficiently loose conditions that he figured out a way to fool them.

He is in close proximity to the paper when it lights, and may even have been able to touch it. Before that moment of possible contact, he had plenty of time to spray it with a little lighter fluid.

No magician or other expert in detecting deception is present.

The only provable differences between a magic trick and this video are two:

Legitimate magicians make no explicit claims of paranormal ability.
A magician could have done this trick ten times more awesomely. From across the room. Under conditions that would challenge anyone but a fellow magician to explain.

Also, the title of this thread makes it sound like (to me, before actually opening the thread) like somehow a Chi master has left a .. uhh.. "mess" on the carpet. Folow this with the mental image of said Chi mater being smacked across the nose witha roled up newspaper.. "Bad Chi Master, BAD!"

Well I'm calling bullshit, at 4:48 if that doesn't look like a sleight of hand then I don't know what is. If his chi is real, then why would he need to do that?

Interestingly enough I believe thats how he got to people to feel that zap. They were all so into it that of course their mind would want to believe that; kinda like the no touch knock out
