Well, not officially, as of yet. But it looks like he's on his way to getting the seat he's been after for a while now. Does anyone have any news sources from the PI on this? Sports news isn't terribly effective for learning about overseas politics.

I'd rather see him win a fight with Mayweather than win an election..

Manny's a busy boy, because I just read this today too:

Cross your fingers, boxing fans: Manny Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddy Roach, said that talks to organize a fight with Floyd Mayweather could begin as soon as Tuesday, as soon as the results are in from the election in the Philippines, where Pacquiao is running for Congress. "I think the fight will happen," Roach told the Associated Press. "It will probably be November, maybe October. November's not a great pay-per-view month, but I think it will happen." A fight between the two men was discussed earlier this year but fell apart over drug-testing protocol rules—Pacquiao didn’t want to take a blood test within 24 days of the fight, saying he thinks that giving blood makes him weak.
I wish a few more of our elected officials would get into the ring. I'd give David Patterson furlough alright (I mean, he's blind, so I'd at least be in with a chance...)

This Sports Illustrated article from today says he's definitely fighting in November. Dates have been booked at the Cowboys stadium in TX, with the opponent to be decided, though either Floyd or Antonio Margarito on his return from the doghouse.

Obviously I want to see Mayweather-Pacquiao like everybody else, but I don't believe that Margarito's career was built entirely on loaded gloves and he could really fight - plus he's got a head like a cinder block. Could be interesting.

Manny Pacquiao should run for President of the United States of America.

he's a member of their nationalista party, which is sort of like a republican here in the states. But, he seems to lean towards more populist stances in a lot of ways. (the whole "people's champ" movement)
