Because the Gracies invented foot locks. Everybody knows that.

    Seriously though...

I've seen people come and go from the schools I train at. From my very unscientific observations, I feel like the guys who would yell out 'BJJ' don't tend to stick around very long. The long-timers just cringe whenever those short-timers open their mouth to yell/say something stupid.

Yep. These are the same guys that show up to their third practice with a $200 gi covered in patches, and are subsequently gone after six weeks.

I realize my sport is colored by morons right now, but please don't define us based on the TUF noobs.

This too shall pass. I hope.

If Sombo ever becomes mainstream popular in the U.S. (crosses fingers for a variety of reasons), the same thing will happen to it as well.

Guys, realize it was the dad of one of the competitors that yelled this out.

That is normal parent behavior who is trying to live vicariously through their kid.

As such, I assume no guilt or ownership of their behavior.

Nonsense! Parents at Little League games are models of deportment!

It's as if you accused these parents of being overly invested in the most trivial aspects of their kids' athletic achievements, hoping perhaps to live vicariously through them, or to mitigate the shame of their own past failures.

    I won't hear it!

I wonder what the rules of the competition say about choking out spectators. Do you get extra points for your team? Special bonuses for leg locking an entire family?

Yeah, some of them are morons too.

"Vicarious dad" exists above and beyond BJJ.
