    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Cut and paste questionare to refine the what martial art should I do question.

Somebody always seems to post the

"What martial art should I do?"

And then starts the drawn out conversation of finding out what they want to achieve and why they want to do martial arts.

I think it would be a whole lot easier just to come up with a short questionare and cut and paste the response each time.

So while I am thinking up mine I thought I would throw the question out there and see what people come up with.

You could probably create a simple flow chart with a list of questions. Since the questions only work if you are honest, it may actually be very helpful to guys that don't want to admit physical or psychological issues, and help them find a style where they can at least go train comfortably. That's better than sitting on the couch, or washing out of a style you can't stomach.

This actually seems like a really good idea for some of the experienced bullies to take seriously and add to the stickies when done.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel, Fudebakudo have this already (link here).

It would be cool to have a more serious version.

"Do you want to learn how to **** someone up so bad they need to feed through a small tube for the rest of their life?"

    Perfect question.

That would be a great idea, except telling them which art to do would be retarded.

You're better off making sure they understand the difference between effective training and learning dead patterns, and advising them on any potential money related rip-offs they may encounter. Then they can try out whatever's available locally and pick the one they like best.

    1) What arts are being taught nearby?

    2) Remove large karate/tae-kwon-do chains from your list.

    3) Remove anything that says 'RBSD'/'Extreme'/'Tactical'/'Street-Ready'

    4) Go watch a class and a sparring session? What? No sparring sessions? Remove.

    5) Take a class from whatever is left.

    6) Which one did you think 'that hurt a bit and I'm really tired'? Choose that.

I'm pretty sure krav maga has a set of counters/disarms for flamethrowers. Or maybe it was against dragons.

    I second Uncle Skippy's questionnaire.
