One of my old kung fu teachers got in a brawl and punched a guy in the mouth. His hand was bandaged up for a pretty long time.

Wow, this is some ignorant ****.

Do you know who people use palm strikes when they fight empty handed? Because knuckles can break very easily. I broke my hand in a boxing match while wearing gloves and handwraps, because sometimes **** happens and you punch a ************'s elbow or something. It's like kicking someone with the top of your foot: It's almost as likely to hurt you as the other person.

All this **** about punching things bareknuckled makes me sad. Why would you want to **** your hands up for no reason? Put on some wraps and some fucking gloves. You'll save a bunch of money on an orthopedist. Plus, you won't get AIDS.

I fought a boxing smoker once and had to quit in the second round because I injured my hand and got punched in the wrist of that same hand. **** happens. I fought a better prepared fighter, didn't pat his jabs correctly and underestimated his power. I should've also switch from southpaw to orthodox once my lead hand felt weird but like I said, **** happens.

Punching teeth sucks. So does a fucked up wrist from drilling someone too hard. I'm all about the combat slap now.

I freakin' love that slap guy.

So. If I get unlucky and get in a fight in t3h str33ts, I guess I'd keep in mind to keep slapping and use my Judo instead.

Huh, I always worked the heavy bag without gloves or wraps, and sparred that way too, because in a real fight you won't have time to put on gloves or wraps, and you've got to get your hands used to punching bare knuckled.

Stupid question: do you guys doing kickboxing/boxing actually take the time to put on quickwraps each time you switch with your partner to hold pads? I can see if it's you with a trainer who is doing all the holding or if you're doing a punch of heavy bag rounds, but it would drive me nuts to take them on/off all through class for pad drills.

if you spar bare knuckled and you arent doing judo then you're not preparing yourself for a 'real fight'.

there is no way you would find sparring partners to continuously simulate high power bk fighting

You can hold pads with hand wraps on.
