Advice and opinion on being smothered in boobs (in a bad way)

This big guy trains in jiu jitsu, from what I understand at a reputable joint. He is bigger than me, from what I can tell fatter as well, but he said his weight was the same as mine which was disconcerting. He's been doing jiu jitsu longer than I have, so his skillset is better than mine. However, watching him roll with some other smaller guys I notice he has a go- to move that, although very effective, is unimpressive. Basically he rushes forward (from the knees) so he is in guard, works to half guard then inches his chest up towards the face, grabbing behind the neck and squeezing the face into his boobs causing suffocation by smothering. He sometimes moves to mount but by then the tap has happened, its like a transition move he uses as a sub.

He's done it to me and, truthfully, tapped me with it. First off he has a solid and heavy top game, second I have a shitty bottom game, third, how he places his boobs makes it impossible to turn away from the suffocation, they can almost surround the head. On a thinner opponent I'd be able to turn my head to the side, breathe and shrimp, bridge or sweep.

Fair enough, it causes people to tap out, so it has legitimacy in that context. I just wonder if the guy is looking to lose the weight to compete why that would be your go to move, suffocation by boob smothering is not exactly a high percentage move in MMA and from what I understand it isn't in BJJ either. The guy has done it at a ratio of 4:1 to ANY other technique, on me and people who are way smaller than me from what I have observed.

If I'm rolling with lesser skilled people, I don't go for an easy sub, I put myself in **** situations to work my way out of them. In the case of rolling with noobs, I consider bullrushing them and smothering with the same move a counter productive training method. What do you think?

Is it a technique others find effective?

Have you seen anything similar?

Any suggestions of how to get out of it?

War Wheel, you feel dirty? This happened last year, months have passed and now my therapist believes I can move on to the next step, she suggested I write this thread on a martial arts website that might have similar stories to "help me cope".

If he does this from half, lockdown could help you drag the weight lower and save your air passages.

From side and mount, I would guess that you're probably going to have to be more aggressive about positioning your body in advance, knowing that this is what's coming to you if you don't. Most of that will probably be shrimping and praying. From mount you could turn on your side to negate the smother, and if he really has specialized in blubber smother to the exclusion of all else, you may even have a chance in that he may not know all the terrible things he can do to you when you turn on your side. What belt is this cat?
