It's true that Finland was invaded by the Swedes, but it was more crusade(s) and settlers than an invasion. There was no Finland, or common Finnish identity at the time. It was Russia that after Isoviha (Greater Wrath, during which time Russians even attempted genocide of Finnish) and Pikkuviha (Lesser Wrath) did the invading.

The whole independence thing, literature, preservation of Finnish culture, national anthem, and many others thing were done by the swedish speaking minority. This is mainly because they were the upper class, and had time for such pursuits. Now days the wealth of the finlandsvenska is due several generations of successful businessmen.

I have nothing against them, even though my swedish is limited and horrible. Vittuperkele.

Halme was known for "immigrant critique", drug abuse, tabloid headlines and for the past glories of boxing.

He was a loudmouth ex-boxer, with political career consisted of hate speeches. He attended less then five parliament meetings. He indeed did have several run-ins with the police for drug use, and almost shot himself and his wife one time.

He spent his last days here walking around Helsinki like a zombie, and then was found at his home, again with drugs and an illegal weapon, which he presumably used to end his life. What did the media do? Raise him in to the headlines again, making him appear as some sort of national hero, rivaled only by Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, Field Marshal and the sixth president of Finland.

My opinion of Halme? Type "pelle" in google image search.

Saatana voivittu! How could I completely miss the existence of such a colourful being as Tony? I had no idea who this guy was while he was still alive, but it seems like he was a lulzy guy.

I guess it's an example of swedish ignorance towards Finland and all its cultural achievements.

And the one critical writer had to apologize publicly about saying Halme was a doofus and a fuckup. And received numerous threats.
