Time to prove this poster is Matt Barvo that is a smoking gun right there. Sorry, messing up a BB from 1976 by a few years I might give you.

Why? Purple is basically the mid rank in BJJ. You are working your way into the advanced ranks IMO. Conflict is you training at a competing gym.

I know what I should say, but I don't want to present any semblance of conflict or some sort of inherent personal interest in making a statement ("You're only saying that because you're a purple belt").

I'll let other people say whatever they need to say about the 'purple belt' statement. There are others in this thread who can comment on it.

That's a silly reason. When we do other investigations *cough* Matt Morton *cough* Ralph Severe *cough* the website uses the experience and opinions of people in the know.

It will make you lose water weight and the help if you have a tight muscle. That being said, after an intense workout you would be dehydrated and hot so raising you body heat would increase your chances of suffering from heat stroke. I would personally recommend someone cool down in front of a fan, drink water, then do some stretching to aid in recovery. If they want to hit the sauna afterwords, they should be fine.

Purple belts in BJJ take 3-5 years to attain depending on the school and lineage. It isn't unheard of in the least to hear of a purple belt teaching classes under the direct supervision of a higher belt, or even on their own in a satellite school.

Having a purple belt teaching seems to be a generally accepted practice in the BJJ community. If it were 'useless,' there would be an uproar in the BJJ community with the number of purples teaching at their own schools.

Considering Matt spent '6 months at each belt', he would have attained his purple belt in 1 year (6 months white, 6 months blue). He may have spent ~7 hours at the gym every day, but were there other people there for the entire duration for him to train with?

How much mat time could he have had with a variety of other people to develop his game, figure out weight distribution/angles/posture control/distance/etc... ?

Maybe he wrestled in high school. If so, which school?

Look at his neck, are you seriously suggesting that hes wrestled?

When he moved here he said he fought Pro in Cali, I totally called him out on the BS. Especially the "pro-mma" record. Even my fights are on Sherdog. When I asked him what Reservation he fought on he said he never did!

He said he traveled and trained in Brazil... I lived there and also speak Portoguese. He couldnt tell me what neighborhood he trained in... (Rio is really big and seperated by neighborhoods.) He replied that he went on a cruise there. "You really didn't go there did you?" To which he replied "My family is Brazilian." OK I asked him, "how do you say Hello, or where is the bathroom?" He drew a blank.....

My parting words were..." I dedicated my life to BJJ and you are a fraud."

Right now he doesn't want to be named. I asked strifes to save the emails and let's see what we can continue to dig up first. If it becomes necessary we can hit him up and see if he'll go on record.
