I am a senior investigator for Bullshido.org, the Martial Arts Encyclopedia. Mr. Barvo's school came up in a discussion at http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=95870 and I began looking into the queries. You might want a representative of the school to clarify some matters in that thread.

Quick information dump:
It appears that Matt Barvo had a Wikipedia page that was deleted due to lack of references:
I have found a mirror of the wikipedia content page on a Japanese site (maybe they don't sync often):
The information isn't anything new but another source for information we've seen elsewhere.

Team Beast disclaims any connection with Tom Cissero, and believes that these rumors are being spread by a local competitor. They have promised to give me contact information for Tom Cicero ASAP.

Not sure if this is the Tom Cicero you are looking for. This is from an article from 2004-seems he was a brown belt at that time.
At Ralph Gracie’s school and have been there eight years and a purple belt right now. I’ve been pretty consistent with my training over the years training five to six days a week and I also get to train with some quality guys, two of my room mates are black belts, one of which is Dave Camarillo and the other is Cameron Earle, not to mention Sandro “Batata” Santiago and there’s some pretty talented brown belts at the club, Mike Prudencio, Misho Ceko and Tom Cicero.

That's Tom Cissero. I guess Sherdog people can't spell well. :/

I've left a message for Tom Cissero letting him know that Matt is not claiming any rank under him. I'm glad that we don't have to bring Mr Cissero into this any further.
I look forward to Team Beast and Matt helping to clear up the issues here.

I also saw a black belt at the tourney that was UNDER Barvo (a big black guy named Ricky). Now, I've been in the game for a little while and I watched his matches with keen interest. I must say from the extended arms while trying to break guard to his tap out from a standing guillotine made my flags go way up. This Ricky guys wasn't a black belt 6 months ago. I don't think he had a belt at all to be honest.
I asked a few of his students who Barvo's BJJ teacher was and none of them knew?! He is belting these guys too. I feel bad for them because IF Barvo isn't the real deal, these guys belts won't be recognized by anyone. Like I said, there are a ton of great BJJ teachers in the area.
I am not sure if any other people from Idaho know of this guy or have more info but I am sure there must be.
I used to live in the area and I can tell you that Ricky Robinson is not a black belt in BJJ. My old Instructor Lee Anderson, a brown belt fought Ricky twice in an mma style cage fight and beat him both times. Lee weighs 135lb Ricky is 375lb. Maybe they just put a black belt on him so he could compete and not just smash white belts?
I'll try to get a hold of Lee and see if he knows anything about Matt.

Is there any update from Team Beast?
If you are still in contact, can you ask them who Matt is currently training under?
From Matt's bio on the Team Beast web site:
Matt is currently training towards his Black Belt 1st stripe
I'm wondering if he is still in contact with Tom Cicero and if that is who will handle his promotion.
