Syberia approves.
Interesting, good punch from Lucia. I didn't expect much of a difference, but she has excellent technique.
Edit: also, i hate that show sometimes. Whats with all the dramatic music and warm up replays?
Chaos? Panic?... Disorder??

…It really, really pains me to see them call that “science”. A “trial” with one participant in each group is representative of **** all except a comparison between two individuals. Heaven knows how many strikes per athlete they actually recorded, and how they skewed the impression based on shots selected… And I admit I’m no expert on boxing, but isn’t a comparison between a female pro boxer and a male Olympic boxer also a bit disingenuous? —I get the impression that pro boxing rewards striking power more than does amateur/Olympic boxing.
Of course technique makes a huge difference. Of course muscle also makes a difference. Of course women are at some disadvantage here, from having less lean muscle mass in relation to total body mass.
Man, this is why I try to avoid the very sight of pop science and stick to science blogs and Nature magazine.
Not that any of this makes Lucia any less awesome, of course. Sort of degrading to have that wonderful technique and power displayed with such melodramatic bullshit and a false label of “science”, but presumably she knows damn well how good she is, anyway…[ petterhaggholm.net | blog | essays ]

Yeah, not that I disagree with their results, but their methodology isn't exactly sound. They could have at least had both of them use the same punches, I don't think comparing hooks to crosses is going to give consistent results.

I don't know if this strictly qualifies, and frankly, I don't care.

she can vault my pole any time. hyuck.
Vili would still end her **** though.

what makes this even more retarded is the first line in- "undefeated" my ass. in fact, she got embarassingly knocked out by an unranked fighter from NZ.

This fight makes the point about the actual difference between the genders: It's not the ability to generate force, but the ability to absorb trauma that makes coed striking a bad idea. I have always said that well trained female fighters can hurt you. That's not the same thing as endorsing coed boxing, kickboxing, MMA etc.
As far as her record goes, there is no way in hell anyone would have sanctioned that fight. Just like no one sanctioned Gene Lebell's fight with a bear. Now darkness comes; you don't know if the whales are coming. - Royce Gracie

Or at the very least, not have her throw her hook with a massive windup. Don't get me wrong, she obviously hits like a train either way, but calling that an objective comparison is ridiculous. They could have at least had both of them use the same punches, I don't think comparing hooks to crosses is going to give consistent results.
