equal parts hard core and **** ups with an overwhelming super majority that treat TKD or any MA the same as they would treat piano lessons.

depends totally on how you teach the class, IMO. When I was the head instructor at an established school down in cincy, I didn't take **** and all of my students were dedicated as hell, even if they weren't world beaters they tried and trained like ones. I even had parents consult me on matters of discipline at home, because their kids listened better to me than them.

Fast forward several years and I am running a start up gym under the same umbrella as White Kimbo. The kids have barely been there three months and despite my repeated pleading I can only get one night a week to teach. at this location, so it is a lot more recreational than the hardcore attitude at my last gym, and the kids are for the most part there because they think its fun, with about 5 of them being there because their parents want them there. No one there (yet) has struck me as a lifelong MA practioner

YouTube- The Foot Fist Way - Simmons has a talk with Julio

The lazy may start at 1:10

on a little side track relating to MA disciple
its funny how the relaxed attitude that works so well for adult BJJ epically fails for kids.

In the adult class people watch carefully, trying to learn the trick that will make the move work in sparring. In the kids class the kids space and look at hairs.

Now sometimes I space, but I go to BJJ on my time and I know that I better get the most out of that Hour or three. I know that its 7.5 a pop, so I spend my time getting better.

I teach a "rock band" class at my work where we do music lessons. We have a young girl singer, about 13 years old that shuts down, cries, and acts like a brat and slows everything down. The more you baby her, the worse it gets. I had to tell her to sit down so I could do something constructive with the other kids. There's always one in every group that acts out.

Wow, where is your school again? I might need to stop by and get digits from the MILF contingent...

Seriously, though, it sounds like people drop their kids off at a martial arts class because day care ends at 7pm.
