It has already been brought up, but, if you are looking to grapple, feel free to contact me. We have a wide range of folks regarding time on the mat, skill level, and size.

    Regards,

I haven't trained with Fields, but I do know of his reputation in the area, which is stellar. I also met him once and concluded he is not a dick. If you live in the U district and are interested in grappling, you should absolutely check out the school.

You moved closer and show up less? What's with that? Summer is over, time to get back on track.

Oh hey are you at UW? A friendly sparring meeting sounds great! I finally got into martial arts that actually train with resistance and am having lots of fun. I've got a pretty open schedule too. However, looking at how long this has been posted, perhaps you have already found a gym or joined either the UW judo or bjj club? Anyways just wanted to say I was interested.

Oh can I ask the kyokushin instructor a question? When you say people are expected to be training other than kumite class, do you just mean kyokushin or striking or can judo count? I do have a year of tippy tappy olympic taekwondo not that it means much at all. I was just a bit interested in experiencing what full contact striking is like.

I naturally prefer that people are training with my regular class. However, I do let people come spar with us. It is good for both them and us. I prefer that people are actively training somewhere, keep the meatheads to a minimum. I don't have any requirements of where or what you are training, just like people training.

Striking experience is not a factor. Everybody's level is different and we all started from zero at one time. We are always working to improve our striking skills.

Typical class will go something like: combo drills (solo), partner drills with striking pads, then kumite. Our kumite rules are typical Kyokushin rules. We don't usually go over 75% power. Precision on people, power on pads. Everybody fights everybody else. Safety is priority, bumps and bruises will happen. Feel free to come by anytime.
