I digress...but for WW...Rickson punched Yuki in his eyes many times from 04:42 Mark on...so there is NO Bu Shi Do there...he claimed that he NEVER struck Yuki in the face...because Yuki had his eyes injured very badly by Gerard...

YouTube- Yasuhiro Yamashita (JPN) - Mohamed Ali Rashwan (EGY)

Same thing with Mohamed Ali Rashwan of Egypt...he said that he did NOT attack Yamashita right leg in the Gold Medal Match...yet he did it many times...he lied and said that he used Bu Shi Do...but he did NOT...ask Mark T. and Neil O. about this...they IOC gave Rashwan an award for NOT attacking Yamashita...but they took it back wen the WORLD saw that he did indeed attack it during the entire bout...people like to REVISE HISTORY...WW and I are AGAINST that.

I remember this very well. I will say that Yamashita expected the attack.

Now, I am old too, but didn't he wrap the other leg and limp on it to make people attack the good leg, or was that at another event?

Not that I think you should necessarily blame individuals for the actions of their governments, but this is hilarious... What the hell was he thinking when he walked into that gym?

Edit: Nice thread btw, I love story time.

Part II (there are going to be a lot of these)

OK, even though Steve is back on the site and posting, I am going to continue posting the material he gave me (in his voice), partly because he already went through the trouble of telling it once (to me) and partly because my good friend is still not entirely on speaking terms with written English (hint)

Everything below the line is in Steve's voice
    ****************************************

During my time at Quantico I participated in All Marine athletics, competing in Judo, SAMBO, Greco and Freestyle. Greg Gibson and Craig Pittman were there at the time. Gibson, Pittman and I competed in all 4 sports, and along with fellow Marine Johnston practiced frequently using a hybrid rule set that allowed arm submissions, strangles, leg locks and pinning. Sometimes we would grapple with the Gi, and sometimes we would grapple with T-shirt, shorts and wrestling shoes. Sometimes we would grapple for time (we used one 6:00 round) and other times for submission, again using a single 6:00 Judo/SAMBO round.

In competition, Gibson would dominate with wresting skills, but in practice we all would mix it up, using Greco analogs to Judo throws when grappling without the Gi, as well as all the subs legal in Judo and SAMBO.

I had a strong background in Ne Waza from my time under Seok Pil Jang (whose top student repeatedly defeated Hidehiko Yoshida in Judo competition) while at Yong Kil Kim's.

We learned the Korean approach to Judo, combining the Russian/Western and Japanese styles, and switching up our approach depending on the opponent.

While Gibson and Pittman were not known for their Ne Waza in Judo and SAMBO competition, prefering to stick to their bread and butter (wrestling), they did use the techniques in our free grappling workouts, and it was, in fact, Greg Gibson who introduced me to lower body submissions.

Thanks Mark...I would have to think back about Yamashita doing that...I am pretty sure
that Neil would know...and Dave (Lowry)...

War Wheel...thank you very much...as this really helps...Craig was 240 when he let Yuki Juji him..and Yuki was like 130-140...because he never really understood true Ne Waza...he only knew Osae...but I was the best at Shime and Kansetsu...
