    Kung Fu Street Fight Protection

    Hey all

Sorry, I was too lazy to look for myself...

What do you guys think would be the best Kung Fu for me?

Details: I am a police man, I want to protect me and my family, I want good hand to hand, close quarters combat, and no flashy **** (jumping stuff, etc. The stuff that would get you killed in a street fight)?

Should I go with Wing Chun?

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

And you specifically want a kung fu style despite the fact that you already train MT and TKD?

Yeah... but Tae Kwon Do doesn't help in a life or death situation against a hardcore mugger that is about to kill you and take your wallet. Or does it?

Seems like the adult classes there only teach how to stretch, warm up, and be conftorable. Kick ass is not that high of an option in TKD.

The little kids enjoy the snacky pizza parties! Get fat, then you will be able to beat some balls! It gets annoying...

No. Neither is it likely to help you much in any combat situation. If you already do muay thai, you must surely be able to see the difference between that and TKD. I know chunners will tell you ad nauseam that wing chun is "deadly for teh streets", but they barely spar and don't compete. Muay Thai does both regularly, on the other hand.

Wing Chun sounds good. Though from what I have seen from the school my Krav Teacher rents space from. It's all about slow drills and sticky hand drills.

If you got MT then you probably just want some BJJ or judo.
