The Official 2010 Arizona Thread: A Call To Harm

Alright girls, **** just got official: Next Saturday, April 24th, will be the first ever Tucson throwdown, graciously hosted by the Sixth Street Gym! The time will be right around 2PM, the address 221 East Sixth Street in the bigass white building with the herpy-derpy tower thing on the front, the speed set to ramming, and the destination the bottom of a big can of whoopass.

    Google Maps for Not-Tucsonites:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...ona+85705&z=16

    Be sure to bring:
Gloves of some kind(Ideally ones you'd want to get punched in the face with yourself, unless you just want to go at it Enshin rules)
    A mouthguard
    Shinguards
A cup(I swear to Cthulhu, if you aren't wearing a cup I will kick you in the balls. Probably twice. Not intentionally, but inevitably.)
    Headgear

Of course, if you don't have some of the gear the gym does have loner gear, but I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole for fear of getting, ****, cancer or something. Failing that, faces can just go unpunched or whatever.

Everyone who attends will be able to experience the pleasures of:
Punching a fat, shitty karateka in the face!
Marveling at how delightfully ghetto the gym is!
Watching said fat karateka slam beer at O'Malley's Bar afterwards!
Suffering the shame and indignity of having all the sparring recorded, uploaded to Youtube, and posted on Bullshido for ridicule!

I'm tempted to break out one of my Kungfuniforms for the Throwdown, in order to be easily recognizable, though being pretty much the only 5'11" fat Scots-Irishman in a gym otherwise populated with skinny Hispanics might also suffice.

    VIDEOS!

YouTube- April 2010 Tucson Throwdown: thoughtcrime vs. Ed

Wherein thoughtcrime rolls with Ed Torrejon, proprietor of the Sixth Street Gym. There were a few more rounds of rolling between the two not recorded.

YouTube- April 2010 Tucson Throwdown: IronCastKnight vs. Metarat

Wherin I spar with Metarat for the first time, and learn the value of keeping my hands up for, like, the thirtieth goddamn time. Maybe this time I can try to remember it, at least until I get punched in the head again and forget.

YouTube- April 2010 Tucson Throwdown: IronCastKnight vs. Metarat Round 2

Wherein I spar Metarat for the second time, suffer slightly less of the getting KTFO'd and inflict slightly more of the shoulder lock. Also, KNEES.

YouTube- April 2010 Tucson Throwdown: IronCastKnight vs. thoughtcrime

Wherein I get Americana'd by thoughtcrime and learn the importance of whining less about how falling asleep at the wheel because I got five hours of sleep sucks and attending wrestling class more, goddamn.

Not shown were just as many, if not more, rounds of Eric_H punching people in the face, grappling, and generally being an awesome _unner, due to his organization's restrictions against video.

So a big thanks to everyone who showed, as, while it may not have been a big one, it was a throwdown. It definitely inspired me to train harder, and also do more cardio. A lot more cardio, goddamn. Possibly also figure out how to block headpunches in a fashion not previously belonging to eight year old girls.

Ironcastknight, thanks for getting this together and posting the vids. Also thanks for abiding by my association's restriction on video, kinda sucks for things like this, but i understand why they do it.

When are we doing the next one? We had talked somewhere between 1-2 months, does early June work for everybody?

Great stuff Metarat and Ironcastknight. Keep the hands up! Nice knees and kicks. Lucky the cup was on! ouch!

Thoughcrime that was a sweet way get get back up on top of ironcastknight. I think I remember learning that way back when. note to self: Need to practice more....

    You're welcome!

No more video from ME, until I find the Fountain of Youth!
Or at least, the Fountain of Cardio.

AND, you bullies made me give up Tai Chi! I'm subbing a half hour to an hour of roadwork for waving my hands in the air, at least until I stop looking like a certain UFC heavyweight. Happy?

So, two shins to the cojones, my midlife crisis painfully splayed on the internet for all to see, where's the throwdown badge?!

    :llorar:
