what makes it more lol is that was the same kick he demo'd before they started fighting. kinda reminds me of the bit in kickboxer where tong po is whacking his knees before one round, then his elbows before another etc.

Though they are low percentage techniques they generate a huge amount of power and if you haven't faced it before it can be very imtimidating. You see the other guy spinning and you can't tell where or when the attack is going to land.
In this instance the Kickboxer looked like he was offering to touch gloves and didn't react quick enough to establish his guard when he saw the other fighter spinning.
Certainly not something to rely on but it's no bad thing to have it in your arsenal. -

Yep, and the KO was a Tornado kick.
I've always been impressed by that kick, though this one looked a bit stretched out as he came from across the ring into it. I've seen others from random TKD tourney KOs that are more tight where I think the person expected spinning back kick and caught a surprise rear leg round kick to the face instead. Since I've been fiddling around with back kick more lately, I'm tempted to learn this kick and try to catch people with it for fun value.
I found a good tutorial that broke down the footwork very well into separate bits to practice, we'll see... Wish some TKDers would show up to TDs and show me. ><Last edited by maofas; 5/08/2010 5:43am at .

I'd go if I could ever get a ride. (ah, the sad life of a college student with no car).
But back on topic this often does throw the opponent off, and because it's often considered an advanced technique there are many taekwondo fighters how get KTFO by it simply because they were't expecting it
