he said traditional striking art because his options were traditional striking arts. Boxing and muy thai can be considered traditional as well but they are incorporated into MMA which can is considered modern. Of course, that last sentence is just a theory and it's hard for me to really explain the difference between modern and traditional martial arts. Sorry.

Im in an area that doesnt have a boxing gym. At least not one nearby. I said traditional because I actually enjot the environment brought by it. I came from a backgroung in Western sports. So at first the Dojo etiquette and kata, etc. was somewhat strange. Over time I came to really appreciate it.

Look **** everyone else if you want to do "traditional" do what you want.
The hood mentality is crippling disease, that attacks your nervous system. It makes you nervous of the system. Gangsters and hood rats are especially susceptible to this growth stunting mentality. The hood is where I'm from, but it's not what I am. The hood is where I'm from, but it's not what I am. --Keith David--Ice Cube

If pushed, then do the Shotokan. There is a connection to Judo there.
"Out of every hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back." -- Hericletus, circa 500 BC -
