    Lastly...Purple Belt? I was ONLY giving you ONE reason WHY your Kimura is wrong. Let us put the insults in the past, and move forward.

    Since we've dragged this into the general forum anyway, I'll ask a potentially dumb question of the people with more experience than me.

    I use the kimura/gyaku ude garami grip fairly frequently to reverse from under side control, but I rarely use that particular entry. More often, I secure the grip when the opponent is on all fours, and then as he drives into me I roll under him and bridge and over he goes, allowing me to finish from the top.

    The question: is it safe to view this move similar to a throw? Many throws, if you do them slowly or without your opponent already moving in the proper direction, will get you powerfully countered. Similarly, if you do this move when he is not feeding you momentum he can stall you long enough to spin the far side and apply the straight armbar, as in Newton's fight or Matt Hughes v GSP number 1.

    Or, is the risk simply never worth it?

    Yeah, and I know you have SO MUCH MORE to offer. Which is why it pains me to see the difficulty that people with your level of experience frequently have expressing that knowlege within this medium. I will make a stronger effort in the future to look past the communication issues and try to help you and other people who may have the experience but not be able to communicate it well to draw it out in a usable form here. To do any less would be irresponsible of me.

    YouTube- St.Pierre vs Hughes Test

    GSP goes for right arm Ude (Kimura) on Matt...which gets his own right arm injured...when Matt counters with Juji...so you have mirror images to study...

    Left = Carlos N. 1

    Right = Matt H. 2

    I just would NOT risk it. There are rare, freaks, who can do things wrong all of the time...and get away with them...Ali...Roy (Jones Junior)...Sakuraba...Frank...etc.,...where they will fight with their hands down...give up their backs and necks, etc.,...but I would NEVER teach a person to go against the basic, orhodox, fundamentals...EVER...it will always catch up to you...always...

    Saku and Karo always use the Ude (Kimura)...for throwing, escaping, pinning, etc.,...Karo threw Dave S. with Sumi (Gaeshi) from the Ude (Kimura)...and later got Dave to Submit (Matte)...after they came to a stop...I feel it is very risky to always use it...especially from bad positions...but freaks can get away with it...notice...Karo took a bad beating from GSP from always trying this...even though he almost made GSP Tap two times...(GSP told me this (and other things) to my face after their bout in Vegas)

    I don't know if Bullshido's irreverent environment is well suited to Mr. Arce's temperament. A communication gap brought about by the generation gap if you will. Honestly, I have a hard time with it myself sometimes. Then again, I would never say something online that I wouldn't say to someone's face.
    FTR, I just reiterated the suggestion of others that he post in AdGrap. Honestly, I thought something like this might happen, but it was offered as a way for him to establish what he knows and, at the end of the day, I think he'll be OK here if he gets to meet some peeps in person.

    Thank you for the advice.
