A Martial art, for majority of us, is nothing more than a game of WOW. It's a random skill set learned by a select group of people with the intention of gaining status, meeting new friends, having something to keep their mind's busy, or all of the above. That's why is so fucking pathetic when you see some black belt (in any art) act like a complete dick because he's better at it than others. It would be no less delusional for a high-level World of Warcraft player walking around in the REAL WORLD like he /she was the ****. The premise that 'masters' get to act like royalty and/or dickheads is absurd.
MTripp, I have a lot more respect for you based on some of your comments in this thread. You sound human, like the rest of us, not like some superhuman martial arts god that will kill us all with a swipe of your mighty hand. As I progress in the art of BJJ, I hope to keep the perspective that I'm playing a game rather than increasing my value as a person. Now off to class to get my ass handed to me...... -

I think you missed the point.........random in terms of basic human needs. We live in a society where one can actually survive without being a martial artist. My whole point is that martial arts for 99.99% of us are a hobby, which should be enjoyed similar to a video game.
I do, however, think tax preparation at my school would be helpful:) -
